This one’s a brief statement about society. When you have a platform such as musicians do, it is important to try to use it for good and not complain about the way things are done, but firmly suggest improvements. Also, it’s the epitome of punk to do so. We knew we wanted the beginning section of this album to be powerful and fast passed, so this song fits perfectly into the narrative of this album and the idea of being in an identity crisis…we like to write softer, dreamier love songs but we also like to write all out bad-ass punk songs which reflect on life around us as it is happening, such as the idea that love and relationships are becoming less legitimate and more a power-stance (“love you, now give me likes and money”).
